Once the custom glass was ready, Max came back and completed the storefront glass replacement professionally, including sealing the new glass and finishing everything neatly. What affects the price?
Board-up is quoted as emergency mitigation, separate from the permanent repair, which is what insurers expect to see. The size and number of openings, height and access, how much glass has to be cleared, and the hour of attendance determine the cost.

What’s included
01Immediate emergency dispatch
We are available 24/7, including holidays, and can dispatch a technician immediately for an emergency. Tell us the address and damage so we can prepare the boarding and clearing equipment and confirm an estimated arrival time. If all representatives are busy, leave your number for a prompt callback.
02Clearing the glass safely
Loose and hanging glass is removed from the frame first, because a shard left in the channel falls later. We clear the fragments from the floor, the track and the sidewalk outside, and take the debris with us. Tempered glass in particular spreads much further than people expect and takes proper clearing.
03Boarding and securing
Plywood is cut to the opening and fixed to the frame or through-bolted where there is nothing to screw into, not taped or leaned in place. Where a door has been forced, we can often reinstate a working lock so the entrance still opens and closes for you rather than being boarded shut.
04Documentation for the claim
We photograph the damage as found, before anything is cleared, and record the sizes and the glass or door specification. The board-up is invoiced as its own line item, separate from the permanent repair, because that is how adjusters expect emergency mitigation to appear on a claim.
05Permanent repair
We assess and measure for permanent repairs when site conditions allow, then confirm the quote, materials and follow-up appointments. Once the replacement is ready, we return to complete the agreed work and remove the temporary boarding.

Ring us as soon as the property is safe to approach and the police, if attending, have said you can start. Tell us the address, the size of the opening and whether the building is occupied. Leave the scene as it is if you can, since photographs of the damage as found support the claim.

We attend and secure
We remove hazardous glass and fit temporary boarding appropriate to the damaged opening. Where possible, we restore a working entrance lock. Temporary securing helps protect the property while permanent repairs are arranged; it is not a guarantee against forced entry.

Document and measure
Before and after photographs, glass sizes and hardware specifications are recorded while we are on site. You get an itemised emergency invoice for the mitigation work and a written quote for the permanent repair, in the format your insurer or adjuster is going to ask for.

Return and repair
Once the glass or the replacement door is made, we come back, install it, take down the boarding and remove it from site. The opening is left glazed, sealed, locking and clean, and you get a written warranty covering the parts and the labour on the permanent work.

How quickly can you board up an opening?
Call for immediate emergency dispatch, 24/7 including holidays. We confirm an estimated arrival time and prioritise making the exposed opening safe. The securing method and time needed depend on the damage, access and condition of the frame.
Should I clean up the glass before you arrive?
Keep people and pets away and leave hazardous glass removal to a professional. Take photos only from a safe position. Do not delay safety work or keep dangerous fragments for a claim. We handle glass removal and disposal; your insurer can confirm what records it needs.
Will insurance pay for the board-up?
Coverage depends on your policy, the cause of damage, any deductible and your insurer's assessment. We provide photos and an itemised invoice separating emergency securing from permanent repairs, and help answer repair-related questions at no added charge. Ask your insurer which costs are covered; we cannot guarantee reimbursement.
Do you do the permanent repair as well?
Yes. We can handle temporary securing and the permanent door or glass repair. We measure when it is safe and practical, confirm any further assessment needed, and arrange installation once the specified materials are ready.
Can we stay open for business behind boarding?
Sometimes, but a working lock alone does not establish that trading is safe. We assess the damaged opening and discuss access with your site contact. Reopening depends on safe entrances and exits, the extent of damage and any requirements affecting your premises.
How long can boarding stay up?
It is weathertight and secure enough to hold for the days it takes to fabricate glass or get a replacement door, which is what it is designed for. It is not a long-term solution: plywood over an opening tells a street the building is unattended. We book the permanent repair for as soon as the parts land.
Do you handle homes as well as businesses?
Yes. Houses, condo units, apartments, retail, offices, restaurants and industrial buildings are all part of the same night work. The approach does not change: clear the glass, close the opening, document everything for the claim, and come back with the permanent repair once the parts are ready.
