We diagnose first and quote before starting. What drives the cost is which part failed and whether it is a stocked profile or a discontinued one we have to source, the glass size and coating if a unit is involved, upper-floor access, and after-hours attendance.
On-site estimate visits are free for most jobs. We confirm whether your visit is free or chargeable before booking.
The work
We check the window's movement, operator, hinges and alignment. A freely turning crank can point to worn gears or a disconnected mechanism; resistance can have several causes. An on-site assessment helps us identify the fault and decide whether a part repair is suitable.
Casement and awning windows fail at the operator gearbox or at the hinge track. We match the operator to your window make and handing, since these are not universal, and replace it with the sash supported so the hinge arms do not twist. Corroded hinge tracks are cleaned and lubricated or swapped out with the sash off.
A sash that drops or will not stay up may have worn balances, broken cords or another support fault. We inspect the system and match replacement parts to the sash type and weight. Older timber windows may need sash-cord and weight repairs instead.
We check sash alignment, the frame and the locking mechanism before recommending adjustments or replacement hardware. Any security upgrade must suit the window and preserve required emergency escape and safe operation.
We inspect sash seals, closing pressure and exterior joints to find where air or water is entering. Repairs may include matching weatherstripping, adjusting the sash or replacing failed perimeter caulking, depending on the source of the leak.
For broken glass, we assess temporary securing and measure for replacement. Moisture between sealed panes can indicate a failed glass unit. If the sash and frame are sound, replacing the glass unit may avoid replacing the whole window.

Yes. Call day or night for immediate emergency dispatch. We assess the damaged opening, remove hazardous glass and arrange appropriate temporary securing. Permanent replacement follows once the glass is measured and ready. We explain any access restrictions and the expected timing on site.
A hardware or glass-unit repair can cost less than a complete replacement when the frame is sound and suitable parts are available. We inspect the window and quote the practical options before you decide. Frame damage or several failed components may make replacement a better choice.
Moisture trapped between sealed panes can indicate a failed glass unit. We check whether the moisture is between the panes or on an accessible surface, then assess the glass, sash and frame. A replacement sealed unit may be all that is needed when the surrounding window is sound.
Usually. Operators, balances and latches vary by manufacturer, series and handing, so we identify the window from the sash label, the hardware casting or a close-up photo. Discontinued parts often have a current equivalent that fits the same footprint. When nothing matches, we say so up front rather than forcing a part that will bind.
