Patio glass ends up in the track, in the carpet pile, under the couch and across the deck. We clear all four, because the pieces in the bottom channel are the ones that turn up weeks later in someone's foot. Debris leaves with us, and the track is vacuumed out before boarding goes on.
A patio opening is too big to treat like a window. Plywood is cut to the panel and fixed into the frame so it cannot be levered off, and where the second panel and the lock are intact we set the door up so it still slides and locks. You are not sleeping behind a leaning sheet.
Measurements come off the rebate in the panel, never off the piece that broke, together with the unit thickness, the spacer depth, the coating and any pattern in the glass. Sliding panels are big, heavy and almost never a catalogue size, so what we record on the securing visit decides whether the new unit drops in cleanly.
Safety glazing is required in a patio door, so what goes back is tempered, matched to the panel next to it for thickness, coating and gas fill. On a ground-floor door facing a yard nobody overlooks, laminated glass is worth pricing, since it hangs on in the frame instead of dropping out in one go.
The new unit goes on fresh setting blocks, the stops go back, and the panel is rehung and adjusted at both rollers so it hangs square and the lock reaches its keeper without a sideways push. While the panel is out, worn rollers and a flattened interlock seal are cheap to deal with, and we quote them openly.

Yes. We can secure the damaged opening first and return with the replacement glass. The correct unit may need to be made to measure. We explain the available options and expected supply time with your quote.
No. Sliding doors are two independent panels, and the intact one stays exactly as it is. We replace the sealed unit in the damaged panel and match the thickness, coating and tint to the other so the pair look and perform the same. If the good panel has a failed seal as well, we will tell you, but we will not bundle it in.
Sometimes, and it is worth checking before the glass is ordered. Levering at the corner can rack the panel or bend the interlock, and a panel that has been racked will not hold a new unit true. We check the panel and the frame for square on the securing visit and tell you then whether this is a glass job or a door job.
Yes. Panels are carried rather than lifted from outside, so what matters is the route: elevator dimensions, stairwell turns, and whether the building requires a booking. We check the unit size and weight against that route before ordering, since a panel that will not make the corner is an expensive mistake to discover on delivery day.
Boarding provides temporary protection, not a permanent replacement for the door or glass. We assess the frame and lock, explain any limitations and arrange the permanent repair as soon as suitable materials are available.
Yes, both, and we are used to the question of who authorises the work. A tenant or resident can call to get the unit secured immediately; the documentation goes to whoever the property manager or corporation nominates. Elevator and loading access can be booked through management for the panel delivery.
