The work
Loose handles and half-throwing deadbolts are often a symptom rather than the fault. We check the door reveal, the hinge screws and the strike position first, because a door that has dropped will chew through a new lockset just as fast as the old one. Fixing the alignment is what makes the new hardware last.
We fit graded deadbolts with a full one-inch throw and matching handlesets or levers in the finish you want. The bore is checked against the new hardware, the backset is confirmed, and the strike is mortised and anchored with three-inch screws that reach the framing rather than the short screws that come in the box.
Interior levers, privacy sets for bedrooms and bathrooms, and passage sets are replaced to match through the house or the floor. Lever handles are worth choosing where someone has limited grip. Where a bore is oversized or in the wrong position from an old set, we plate or fill it rather than leaving a lever hanging loose.
Sliding door mortise locks, hook bolts, keepers, handle sets and foot bolts are replaced and set to engage without pushing the door sideways. Casement and hung window latches, cam locks and keepers are swapped and aligned to the sash, and ground-floor windows can be moved to keyed hardware where security matters.
New locks can be keyed alike so the front, back and garage doors take one key, or keyed to your existing key so nothing in your pocket changes. Commercial mortise and cylindrical locksets are replaced in grade, and cylinders can be keyed into an existing building master system where one is already in place.

In most cases, yes. If the new cylinders take the same keyway as your current lock, we key them to your existing key so nothing on your keyring changes. Where the keyways are not compatible, we key the new locks alike to each other and cut you a single key that opens all of them.
The bolt is hitting the edge of the strike hole instead of entering it cleanly, which means the door has dropped, the frame has moved, or the strike was fitted slightly off from the start. Forcing it wears the bolt and the cylinder. We reset the hinges or reposition and deepen the strike so the bolt throws fully every time.
A straight replacement into an existing bore is usually well under an hour per door. It takes longer when the new hardware has a different backset or bore size, when the strike has to be moved and mortised, or when the door has dropped and the hinges need resetting before the lock will line up reliably.
Grade matters more than brand. Higher-grade deadbolts have hardened components, a full one-inch throw and better cycle testing, and they hold up to daily use on a busy entry. That said, a top-grade lock in a soft jamb with short screws is still weak, so the strike reinforcement is where much of the real security comes from.
Yes. Sliding doors use a mortise lock in the panel edge with a hook bolt that catches a keeper in the jamb. Both are replaceable. If the door has dropped on worn rollers, we set the roller height first, because a lock that will not catch is often a door height problem rather than a lock problem.
